Ford Brothers Racing Briarcliff 2022 Press Release
(Nashport, Ohio. June 12, 2022) – Briarcliff Motocross in Nashport, Ohio, is a facility built by ATV racers for ATV racers. The Osborn family, owners this beautiful facility, is a family made up of ATV enthusiasts and a young star of female ATV motocross, so who better to host this pivotal round of racing. Briarcliff hosted their first ATV Motocross national back in 2014 and it prompted some incredible racing. After seven long years spent waiting for another opportunity to host an ATV Motocross national, the Osborn family received the opportunity they had been waiting for and knocked it out of the park! The 2021 event was a smashing success, making Briarcliff one of the events circled by many when the schedule was announced for the 2022 ATV Motocross National Championship season. After an unforgettable day at Briarcliff a year ago, the Ford Brothers Racing team was one of the many looking forward to the second weekend of June in Ohio.
Setting goals gives us long-term vision and short-term motivation. Goals also help us align our focus and encourage a sense of self-mastery. The Ford brothers, of Bryce and Cody Ford, set lofty goals at the start of last season and entered the 2021 season finale at Briarcliff with their goals well within reach. Both riders rose to the occasion in crunch time at the season’s final event and, with stellar performances that day, seized the goals they set out to accomplish six months earlier. For Bryce, it was a spot in the coveted top three in season-ending points standings and, for Cody, a place in the top 10 when the dust settled on the championship. Briarcliff isn’t the season finale this year, but with another solid performance at this pivotal round, the boys could position themselves to, once again, have their goals well within reach when the season finale comes around again this season!
A perfect day greeted racers and fans alike at Round 7 of the ATV Motocross National Championship at central Ohio’s Briarcliff Motocross facility. The track was in impeccable condition, acting as the grand stage for the world’s best ATV racers to do battle and show what they are capable of in front of the large crowd on hand. Bryce and Cody Ford started off the day with quick qualifying times that positioned them in third-fastest and tenth-fastest position respectfully. After starting the day on a good note, all this duo had to do was race like they qualified, and they’d be right where they needed to be.
Charging to the front has been a theme lately for the Ford Brothers, and they would be forced to do that once again in Moto 1 at Briarcliff. Bryce Ford has become a constant podium contender, but in a class so competitive starts become exponentially more important. However, after suffering a crash right off the gate and being forced to ride a twisted-up machine, Bryce Ford showed his true grit by racing from dead last (with a sizeable gap to the next closest rider) all the way up to 7th by the conclusion of the opening moto. As for Cody, he found himself outside the top ten in 12th position on the opening lap, but true to form for “The Foreman”, Cody ran his fastest lap on lap eleven and moved up two spots late in the race to finish in a strong 9th place position.
Two hours passed following the opening moto, and when the gate dropped on Moto 2, we saw the version of Bryce Ford that we all know and love. The twenty-year-old’s machine was fixed up and straightened out, and he was able to enjoy riding his ATV again. The young star stalked the competition before passing his way into the top three in the late stages of the moto; third is where he would finish behind the two established legends currently in ATV motocross. Contrarily, Moto 2 was Cody’s turn to suffer an early race get-off. The eldest Ford brother was fast again in this race, but after spotting the field 40 seconds after his crash, the best he could do was 11th by the conclusion of this one. Bryce Ford ever so slightly extended his points advantage over the competition in the race for third in the series points standings after going 7-3 for 4th overall in Ohio. Cody is very solidly inside the top ten now after 9-11 moto finishes earned him 11th overall at Briarcliff. He now sits 9th in the points standings.
“[Bryce Ford] struggled in Moto 1 with a few issues.” Ford Brothers Racing posted to their official social media accounts. “[But he] went back to the trailer, put some positive vibes in himself, made a few bike adjustments, and charged for a better Moto 2. He was able to dig deep and finish 4th for the day. Most importantly, with a fresh outlook and luck, he was able to maintain his [place in the] points standings…Briarcliff MX took a little bite out of [Cody Ford]. A digger in Moto 2 was a slight setback. Good news is Cody was able to bounce back and maintain 9th place [in the series points standings]…Thank you to the higher power for this life. This season has been easy on NO ONE.”
Just like that, only six gate drops remain in this 2022 ATV Motocross National Championship season. In an absolutely stacked class that features some of the best talent and racing that ATV motocross has seen in as long as we can remember, our Ford Brothers Racing riders continue to prove what outstanding riders and (more importantly) young men that they are. After an extended break, the series will head northeast to Pleasure Valley Raceway in Seward, Pennsylvania, on the weekend of July 2/3 for round 8 of the championship tour. In the meantime, we will be preparing to bring our best to Pleasure Valley. Enjoy the extra week off, see you there!
