Ford Brothers Racing Red Bud 2022 Press Release

Ford Brothers Racing Redbud 2022 Press Release

(Buchanan, Michigan. July 31, 2022) – Redbud Motocross, located in smalltown Buchanan, Michigan, is considered one of the most prestigious motocross racing facilities on the planet and the capital of American motocross. Just four short years removed from hosting the motocross version of the Olympics, Motocross of Nations (MXoN), Redbud will once again host motocross’ most prestigious event this coming September. However, on the final weekend of July, it was time for the fastest four-wheeled racers in the world to invade the sleepy little Southwest Michigan community. Speaking of Motocross of Nations, the ATV version of the event (being held in the Czech Republic this fall), is getting ever closer with each passing day. The three Americans who stood atop the AMA ATV Pro Class points standings one year ago, Chad Wienen, Joel Hetrick, and Ford Brothers Racing’s Bryce Ford, will represent our great nation as members of the Team USA ATV Quadcross of Nations Team. This trio receives the honor of attempting to end their season strong while preparing to head to Europe with a target squarely on their backs as the incoming favorites.

One of the greatest aspects of the Team USA ATV squad is the togetherness it creates amongst the ATV community and our top racers. Before each national event leading up to the Quadcross of Nations, a riding school is held by Team USA to help raise money for their overseas trip. Team member Bryce Ford has played a major role in these clinics, just as he will at the actual event in September, and fellow Ford Brothers Racing Team rider Cody Ford has been assisting as well. Each of the Ford brothers has been impressive this season, and following the most recent school, the focus shifted from helping eager students hone their skills to leaving it all on the racetrack themselves against the fastest ATV riders in the world. And where better to do battle than REEEEDBUUUUD?!

A pristine racetrack and perfect weather greeted riders and race fans alike at Round 9 of the ATV Motocross National Championship series. Redbud would serve as the battlefield for the penultimate round of racing in 2022 and, for the two Ford Brothers Racing riders, the race day couldn’t have started in two more polar opposite ways. For young Bryce Ford, he kickstarted his day by qualifying inside the top three in the day’s first qualifying session. However, while his younger brother was looking very strong, eldest Ford brother, Cody, could only watch on while his machine suffered some kind of mechanical issue. It would take more than that to shake “The Foreman” though, as he came out swinging in the second timed session and qualified inside the top ten. Bryce Ford would ultimately qualify inside the top five when times were combined from both timed sessions ahead of the motos.

Right off the bat, I’m going to say that Redbud featured some of the fastest pace and best battles that we’ve seen all year long. On the most demanding track of the season, the baddest quad riders on the planet duked it out for 18 minutes plus 2 laps before doing it all over again a couple hours later. Specifically, the battle for the third and final podium spot (just like in the points standings) was the battle to watch. At the midway point of Pro Moto 1, Bryce Ford was in a freight train along with Nick Gennusa, Brandon Hoag, and Jeffrey Rastrelli. For nearly 25 minutes this group tussled for the one podium position still up for grabs behind the greats of Chad Wienen and Joel Hetrick. Bryce Ford would ultimately finish the opening moto in 6th. The youngster had every intention of flipping the script in Moto 2, but he was unable to get the start he needed to make that a reality. By the time he overtook Max Lindquist after quite the duel, he was again in 6th place and the top 5 were already out of sight. Bryce Ford would have to settle for 6th overall with 6-6 moto finishes at Redbud.

Cody Ford was missing from the opening qualifier due to a fluke mechanical issue, but after the team had scrambled to get him back up and running, he resumed his rock-solid form just like you’d expect from “The Foreman”. The eldest Ford brother raced forward in both motos with his 9-10 moto finishes earning him a solid 9th overall on the day. Cody is locked into the top ten in points, while Bryce is locked into the top five with just two motos remaining. However, with a strong showing from either/both riders, their lofty goals are still well within reach at the season finale.

“Redbud is an awesome track,” the Ford Brothers Racing Team posted simply to their official social media channels, “but [we] just couldn’t get dialed in for the weekend. We’ll keep focused and be ready for Loretta Lynn’s.”

Now just two gate drops remain in the 2022 season before focus shifts fully to the QXON. For Bryce, Cody, and the entire Ford Brothers Racing Team, the goal is quite simple leading up to the season finale – empty the tank, leave it all on the racetrack, and see where the cards fall. The series is set to return to one of the most legendary locations in all of motocross. See you at Loretta Lynn’s Dude Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, for the series’ finale on the weekend of August 13/14. See you in Tennessee at “The Ranch”!
