Ford Brothers Racing Stacking Success at High Point
(Mount Morris, Pennsylvania. April 29, 2023) – Nestled in the picturesque mountains of southwestern Pennsylvania near Morgantown, West Virginia, High Point Raceway has been a mecca for motocross enthusiasts since its establishment in 1976. With its unique amphitheater-like setting that provides optimal viewing of the challenging course, the track has become a favorite among fans and competitors alike. Over the decades, High Point has been a regular stop on the ATV Motocross National Championship tour, with the fastest ATV racers in the world vying for glory on this iconic track. As another year rolled around, it was once again time for the stars of ATV racing to take on the High Point course and demonstrate their incredible skills.
Despite the threat of rain all weekend long and a couple of inches of precipitation on Friday and Sunday, the Pro Class racing program at High Point Raceway on Saturday went off without a hitch. For the Ford Brothers Racing Team, not even the stormy weather could cool their hot streak, as Bryce Ford entered Round 4 riding a four-race podium streak dating back to last season. This season has been a thrill ride for Bryce, who has extended the longest podium streak of his professional career, won his first moto as a professional, claimed his first overall victory in the Pro Class, and found himself as the series points leader for the first time ever. Meanwhile, older brother Cody has had a solid season as well, consistently battling against the world’s best for top ten finishes. As the most dynamic duo in the sport, the Ford brothers were determined to keep their momentum going at High Point.
The morning timed qualifying sessions saw the track needing to be ran in a bit, but it quickly improved as the day went on. Bryce Ford qualified in a strong second place position, trailing only the reigning series champion, Joel Hetrick. In qualifying, riders often take their time getting up to speed before dropping the hammer and pushing the limit, but the same could not be said for Pro Moto 1 at High Point. The battle for third in this race was particularly intense, drawing raves from many spectators as one of the best racing battles they had ever seen. Bryce Ford was right in the middle of it all after starting mid-pack, fighting his way up to the top five before locking horns with former series champion Chad Wienen, as well as Brandon Hoag and Max Lindquist. These riders battled back and forth throughout the race, with Bryce pushing Chad Wienen to the limit at the checkered flag, but ultimately settling for a hard-fought fourth place finish in the opening moto.
The Ford Brother Racing Team came into the second moto hoping for a top-three finish to secure another podium spot for Bryce Ford and extend his impressive streak. Bryce made a strong start, grabbing the holeshot and quickly getting to work to secure a podium finish. However, as expected in the world of ATV motocross, the competition was fierce and the battle for positions was intense. Despite his best efforts, Bryce was unable to break into the top three and had to settle for another hard-fought fourth-place finish after battling with Jeffrey Rastrelli and Brandon Hoag. Although Bryce’s podium streak did not extend, he still had a solid points day with 4-4 finishes, resulting in an overall fourth-place finish. With this result, he maintains his position as the runner-up in the series points standings.
As we continue to follow the Ford brothers in their professional ATV Motocross journey, Cody Ford has proven to be one of the most reliable and steady athletes in the sport. Despite narrowly missing the top ten at the previous event in Texas, Cody has finished in the top ten in seventeen out of the last twenty-three races, showing his consistency and determination. At High Point, Cody battled with Michael Allred and Logan Stanfield for 10th and 11th place in both motos. Though he narrowly missed his goal, finishing 11-11 for 11th place overall, he maintains his position in the top ten of the series points standings. Although the brothers may have wanted more from the race in Pennsylvania, they left healthy and with valuable points in their pockets, ready for the next challenge ahead.
“Our expectations have grown over the past few months and the results just don’t feel great, but in reality, they are amazing. The 2023 top tier pro class is next level, [have to put together] a good day all around to be in it. Back home to train. Still P2 for Bryce Ford and P10 for Cody Ford overall in the series. No complaints here! God has blessed the Fords with grit.” The Ford Brothers Racing Team posted proudly to their official social media accounts.
Bryce Ford added “Heading to Ironman safe and healthy after the weekend at High Point. Started the day off a little slow getting P5, second qualifier I found some speed and felt comfortable and ended up P2. Moto 1, I had a really strong race with some awesome battles. Moto 2, I got a great start and finished 4th overall for the weekend. Everything has been going amazing this season and I’m stoked to be in the position we are in. Going to put in the work for Ironman!” And Cody wrapped things up with more positivity “We’re making strides and working our way up. High point was a good weekend!”
The Ford Brothers Racing team has set their sights on lofty goals, and if the crew can just keep stacking success, achieving even greater triumphs in the upcoming rounds of the ATV Motocross National Championship will very much be achievable. With their unwavering determination and impressive skills on the track, Bryce Ford is determined to start a new podium streak while Cody Ford aims to secure more top ten finishes in the rounds ahead. The next stop on the ATV Motocross National Championship tour takes us to the Midwest where one of the best tracks in the nation resides. We ar
